"I decided to attend IUP for several reasons, including the distance from my home, the excellent experience my sister had in the nursing program, and the affordable cost of tuition," Megan said. When she arrived on campus, Megan learned something that surprised her about IUP's nursing program. "The pass rate of new graduates is phenomenal for the state licensure exam. As of August 2010, 96 percent of IUP nursing graduates passed the NCLEX on their first attempt!" she said. Megan aspires to eventually become a Certified Nurse Anesthetist a few years after her graduation. From IUP, she will earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and hopes to first work as registered nurse in a critical care unit. In preparation, she spends a great deal of time in nursing clinical settings, something IUP nursing students begin during their sophomore year. "Unlike some other schools, the tuition for the nursing program is the same as other majors at IUP," Megan said, "which was ideal financially for me."
